Some Thoughts On Generative AI
And How Not Using It Helps My Writing
When I slip up and look at Substack Notes I see these grand proclamations about the use of Generative AI. Along with accusations of people’s writing being done with AI.
As far as the accusations I’m beginning to think that those that are too aggressive about attacking others as using AI in their writing are part of the “every accusation is really a confession.”
I want to read and see what the human mind can do. I think that people should acknowledge how they use external resources as appropriate.
As my opinion on the ethics of these things won’t make a difference to anyone, I’m going to set that issue aside.
The reality is we’ll need to be more careful of the content with take in. Content discovery is going to change as people are going to search for authentic voices.
I find that the generative AI has helped me in being able to be myself. I know that my experiences are unique and I’m trying to write from that place. As with all creativity it’s a work in progress.
It’s actually sort of freeing to be able to write in a unique way and not worry about what the so-called experts say you must do. It allows for trying different formats, lengths, genres, etc…
AI is good at doing what’s expected. If you create how is genuine for you AI isn’t going to replace you and I do believe there will always be a group of humans who value the magnificent creative power of the human brain.
